The tension the whole series runs on is that the master is not what she thinks he is, and he has agreed to a term that forbids him from proving it. DashReels tags it puppet husband, power abuse, broken dignity, emotional manipulation and moral conflict, which is an accurate warning: it is a deliberately uncomfortable watch rather than a light one.

The original is 《家庭煮夫》, Jiātíng Zhǔfū, a Chinese vertical drama that premiered on 10 October 2025. The title is a pun: 家庭主夫 is "househusband", and swapping one character turns it into "house-cooking husband". Internationally it is released as "House Husband? Try Supreme Immortal".
It was produced by Beijing Dianzhong Kuaikan Technology and is credited at 65 episodes in Chinese. It was not a minor title: DataEye's annual chart placed it fifth among all Chinese short dramas for 2025.
In China the genre is named precisely enough to be useful as a warning label: 赘婿逆袭, the live-in son-in-law who rises, crossed with 扮猪吃老虎, playing the pig to catch the tiger. If you liked this one, those two tags are what to look for.
